DESCRIPTION

The eighteenth-century crucifix is imbued with an older Italian tradition, and was possibly executed by an excellent artist from the north that found himself working in Sicily. The arrangement of the figure on the cross certainly fits with what was being produced in Sicily in the late eighteenth century, a fact confirmed by similar stylistic approaches used in the work in the Gallery of Sicily, which has probably always been kept in Palermo.
